University Of Nairobi Student Fined Ksh.7.5 Million For Defaming Pastor Owour’s Driver.
An Eldoret court slapped Kevin Ndung’u Kiriga, with a fine of Ksh.7.5 Million, for cyber bullying pastor Owuor’s driver, identified as Benard Kagia.
Kiriga was found guilty of sharing a very offensive post on his Facebook page , 3 years ago, where he accused Kagia of being a prostitute, and shared other defamatory statements, that led to a break off in Kagia’s family.
Bernard decided to sue Kiriga in the court of law, and the case has been going on for 3 years. The magistrate in Eldoret court found Kiriga guilty, and he was charged for computer misuse, harassment and cyber crime act No 5 of 2018. He was therefore demanded to pay Bernard Ksh.7.5 Million for defamation and for the damages done.
Kiriga said that he has no property amounting to that money, and he is not financially stable to pay the money. The magistrate is set to give the way forward soon.
