Alex Chamwada: When I Left Citizen TV I Was Famous  and Very Broke ,I Had Alot of Debts.

One of the most famous and celebrated Journalist in Kenya, the CEO of Chams Media Group,Alex Chamwada, finally decided to open up on his dark past  before making it and managing to come up with his own media company.

Chamwada who worked as a journalist in several power media houses in Kenya, the last one being Citizen TV, said that time reached when he felt that it was time for him to exit. He felt that he wanted to focus more on his stories, and cover what he wants, he wanted the freedom to do what he wants.

He said that media the cycle was just predictable and this was somehow tiresome. In 2014 Chamwada exited Citizen TV and decided to go and focus on his own things, which was starting Chams Media.

However when he was leaving Citizen, he was very broke , and was having alot of debts. The reason why this happened was because his father had succumbed, and he and family had spend alot of money in treating him, trying to save his life but they didn’t manage.

Chamwada said that he is a normal human being so he was drained financially and he had no savings. People couldn’t have believed him because they knew that Citizen was paying him well and he had be seen reporting international news.

It is true that the pays were amazing but the treatment of his dad left him broke. He however didn’t give up, he decided to start Chams Media, and only had a phone and a laptop. In his previous interview, Alex Chamwada said that he had to sell his  house to fund Chams Media.

He said that he is greatful that media company also believed in him, and KTN News gave him  a chance to air his program. From Baby steps, he started rising. Fast forward he reached a level whereby he was able to buy space on a national TV and air his program and commercialize it by himself.

Daring abroad which is his segment as at 2024 is aired on NTV. Chams Media is now a famous media house in Kenya and also internationally. He is doing great and he has seen his dreams come true. Congratulations Alex Chamwada.
