Story Of Refugees Living Better Lives Than Kenyans In Kakuma, They Even Employ Kenyans To Do Vibarua

The government of Kenya is supposed to serve Kenyans more as compared to the refugees, but in Kakuma things seem to be different. Turkana residents are now complaining that the refugees live a better life than them.

” Hawa watu kuna wenye walikuja huku nikiwa na watoto wawili, sahii refugee ako na watoto nane na anawalisha poa, na mimi hata chakula ya siku moja ni ngumu kupata. Hao wanapewa chakula poa na serikali na pia wanapewa pesa” A local complained.

Before Donald Trump initiative of cutting down of some expenses of UN and also USAID, the refugees were receiving good amount of money and food from the government, which were donations from USA.

Indeed they have been living a better life than Kenyans, who can barely afford a meal daily because of the difficult economic situations.

Turkana residents are now against Ruto’s motif of handing over refugees ID, they said that this will catalyse more the existing conflict of fighting for the few available resources.

They also want the government to help Kenyans and atleast transform the life of Kenyans, and not the refugees. According to experts the government is supposed to change life of Kenyans, so that Kenyans themselves can help the refugees.

However in Kakuma there is a situation where you will find a refugee has employed a Kenyan to do work for them, yet they are being given money that are contributed by taxpayers.
