An airtel Simcard normally goes for Ksh.50 or 100 bob, and even sometimes free, however for a Mzungu woman who was a new visitor in the country, fell into a trap of a city hawker, and she ended up buying the simcard for Ksh.6500.

Elona who is a resident of Czech republic, has opened up how a hawker in Kenya, decided to con her publicly. She really wanted a simcard so that she can buy data and go online while in Kenya. She went to buy the airtel line, and the hawker told her it goes for 50 dollars, she didn’t even bargain, she paid Ksh.6500, only later to realise that the sim card goes for as low as Ksh.50 bob.

Elona also revealed that living in Kenya is difficult for a foreigner, because alot of Kenya hawkers or entrepreneurs think the whites have money, and they usually hike prices for them, even her house rent she pays more than other tenants.
