A Patient Who Has Fully Paid For SHA Rejected, Told Her Tumor Isn’t Big Enough To Covered By SHA

A Patient Who Has Fully Paid For SHA Rejected, Told Her Tumor Isn’t Big Enough To Covered By SHA.

Millicent Akinyi, a patient who had been admitted at the Naivasha Sub County Referral Hospital, hoping to undergo surgery to remove brain tumor, was rejected by SHA, despite having paid for the scheme’s annually premium as required by government.

Her employer has also paid for SHA so the qualifications for coverage have been met well, however the government via SHA has rejected to cover for her brain tumor surgery. They claim that her brain tumor is not big enough to be covered by SHA. Her brain tumor is currently at 2.2 Cm, while the government has insisted that SHA only covers for surgeries of brain tumor that is 3.3 cm and above.

In other words the government wants Akinyi to go back home, so that she can continue being sick, until her brain tumor grows to 3.3 Cm.
