Uber is an American Mobility as a service provider, and the headquarters of the company is based in  San Francisco. It operates in more than 900 metropolitan areas globally. Uber Company is one of the fastest-growing taxi businesses in the whole world. Technology has made transportation from one place to another effortless and safe. According to the latest statics, the company is available in more than 80 countries worldwide. Despite it operating in several countries, there are also other several tourist countries where the services of Uber are not available.

    Countries that Don’t have Uber

Several countries don’t have Uber due to legal restrictions. Some parts of Denmark, Oregon, Bulgaria, Hungary, and parts of Germany have restrictions on using Uber services. In addition to this, the Uber pop level of service is also banned in France, Italy, Netherlands, and Finland.

E U and African Countries that Have Uber

Several European Cities have Uber, and I will mention a few because the list is endless. They include; Berlin, Rome, Anthems, and Vienna. In these cities, the rides are usually cheaper than the other taxis. In Africa, Uber is available in some nations, and these nations are; Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, South Africa, Egypt, Morocco and Nigeria, and other parts of Africa. They are currently planning to expand and improve their services in Africa.

The main challenge Africa faces is network issues, and in some rural parts of Africa, people can’t manage to access the internet and book Uber rides. I think the other reason Uber is not commonly used in Africa is the living standards, and most Africans live in poverty. The majority can’t afford to pay for Uber, and instead, they prefer to use the cheaper local means of transport such as buses and motorbikes or even tuk-tuks. In Kenya, Matatu is the cheapest means of transport, and most Kenyans use them.

Dara Khosrowshahi is the current CEO of the famous Uber Company, and he manages the company’s fastest-growing business in over 80 countries across the globe. According to the latest statistics, the company has over 22,000 employees and several people as still getting employed. For more understanding, Dara is a very learned person. He was the previous Chief Executive Officer of the Expedia company, which is currently the largest online travel company globally.

Travis Cordell Kalanick is the founder and the owner of the world’s multibillion taxi company. He was born on August 6th, 19176. He is one of the famous American successful business people. He is also the former Chief executive and the co-founder of the Uber company. He owns the company’s largest share. Though there are other founders, the Idea was for Travis. That is why he is always referred to as the company’s owner.

He has experience in technology, and he has worked in several companies. He has worked for Scour, a peer and peer sharing company. He was the CEO  of Uber from 2010 to 2017. Pressures made him resign.

Travis grew up in Northern California, His childhood was perfect, and he was brilliant and competitive in middle and high school. He always had a desire to win. He used to sell knives from door to door while he was still a teenager. After successfully graduating from Granada Hills Charter High School, he joined the University of California in Los Angels to study computer Engineering and Business Economics. He was also a member of the Theta Xi while at California University.

However, Travis didn’t finish his university education. In 1998, he decided to drop out of the University of  California, and he started to work at the start-up scour full time.

    Founding Uber Company

The company was founded in 2009, and this ridesharing company was the Idea of Kalanick, who featured a famous Canadian entrepreneur known as Garrett Camp. After coming up with the idea, the two genius decided to develop a concept of a Smartphone application that would easily allow people to book the ride online from their comfortable place, as long as they can have access to the internet. After coming into the agreement, they both agreed to act as the mega advisors of the company because none of them wanted to run the company directly.

The company started growing, and it had gotten verification from the national government. However the period between 1014 to 2017, the organization started facing issues, and at this period, Klanick was the CEO. There were reports of harassment, sexual assaults, and other evil deeds. Kalanick was forced to resign as the CEO in 2017 due to pressures and resigned from the boardroom in 2019; now, he usually runs the organization indirectly.

    According to the available statistics, the Uber company has been  making billions of profits every year, and  here  are the profits the company made  from  2017 to 2019;

    2017- ( $4billion)

    2018-($1billion)

    2019-($8.5 billion)

    2020-($6.7 billion).

The pandemic period greatly affected the business, and in 2021, they didn’t make much profit because of the Corona Virus; hence lockdowns were imposed, and most people were not traveling and spent most of the time indoors. Uber eats is another organization that has cheeped in and has safe motorbike riders. The company is regaining its normality, and in 2022 they are hoping to make a considerable profit.

Travis and his co-founder have been working tirelessly to improve Uber’s technology.

The company is growing, and in the coming years, it will be at the same level as Microsoft and all the other mega-companies in the world. On a good note, some of the harassment cases and evil deeds linked to Uber drivers have been reduced, and the company has strict laws before allowing any driver to become their member.

There are also other taxi companies, that have been competing with Uber, but the company has managed to remain outstanding, and due to quality services it has gained the trust of many people across the globe. In the next 5 years, the company is   targeting to have its operations in more than  150 countries
