Pregnancy Spells and What Most Hospitals in Kenya Don’t Want You to Know
I am a devoted Christian and my father is a medical doctor at one of the biggest hospitals here in Kenya. Still, I have something important to share.
For many years I believed that hospitals were the safest places for expectant mothers and that doctors always acted in the best interest of their patients. My pregnancy journey, however, opened my eyes to a different reality. The tittle has the link to the full infor.
When I discovered I was pregnant, I rushed to the hospital for antenatal care. The joy of carrying life was quickly clouded by endless prescriptions, repeated scans and constant lab tests that drained my pocket.
Every visit came with another round of medicines, some of which I did not even understand. My questions about their necessity were brushed aside with the usual response that it was standard procedure.
As months went by, I observed how other mothers suffered under the same system. Many were pushed into unnecessary surgeries.
Others were advised to terminate pregnancies because doctors claimed the babies would not survive. Worst of all, I saw cases where mothers lost their lives on the delivery table due to negligence.
