It took several years for Kenyans to realise that Eddie Butita has been behind most of the jokes that comedians used to tell on Churchill show. He was a creative writer and  also a script writer. Since then Butita started getting his flowers , upto the point he got a special recognition from the President.

He was among the celebrities who were given the precious OGW recognition by president William Ruto. Butita has had several meetings with the president and famous CEOs in the country and across the world.

When the government wanted to tax creatives 16%, before implementing it, they had to consult some creatives, and Butita was leading the creatives team.

Speaking in an interview with Obinna, Butita said that he saved the creatives from being taxed such a huge amount. He went on a face on face interview with President William Ruto and the CEO of Facebook Africa and Google Africa . They were all on the same page.

Through his efforts, Facebook monetisation was introduced in Kenya, and Facebook has tested it several times, and it is working well, it will implemented fully in 2024.This has been made possible through his efforts.

The other important thing he did for the entertainment industry, is when there was a push of Tiktok to be completely banned in Kenya. Something that led  tiktok lives to almost be suspended completely. This is after it emerged that immoral things were being done by Kenyans on the platform.

There was a push by the parliament and they were discussing on how to completely ban the platform in Kenya. Before making a move, the president had to consult Eddie Butita.

He went on a meeting with him an a panel, showed them step by step on how tiktok works, and how it has been paying bills for a huge number of tiktokers, who are doing clean content.

He made them understand that tiktok is not that bad the way it was being portrayed. The president listened to him, and did a meeting with the CEO of Tiktok, they agreed on how to regulate the platform without banning it.

That is how Butita played a very huge role behind the scenes. The president knows him, and incase of anything concerning entertainment, Butita and some few creatives are usually consulted and he has never failed to defend the entertainment industry.
