Why Kenyans Will Have To Pay To Use The Word ” I Love Nairobi”

It is now emerging that a man identified as Blackman, moved to the courts to trademark the word ” I love Nairobi” . He was the one who started the slogan and it is among the most used slogans even manufacturers have been using it on their businesses, printing outfits featuring the name.

The court is now set to grant Blackman the rights of full ownership of the name. This simply means that he will have control over the name, hence for a business or any Kenyan citizen to use the word, by printing it on outfits, they have to pay him. The name will be officially trademarked for business and individual usage.

The court has given Kenyans upto Decembe to petition, and if no one will petition then they will give Blackman total control over the name and he will be allowed to charge the users.
