Famous sports journalist, Stephen Mukangai has finally decided to open up on how he rose from grass to grace. He was born in a humble background and he is the one who has changed the story of his family, and inspired alot of people in his village.

Speaking on a podcast, Mukangai said he was born and raised in a humble village somewhere in Malava, Kakamega County. He attended a local primary school, rewinded class 8 two times.

He was even supposed to drop out of school after class 8 and join welding classes from his drunkard uncle. However her mum insisted that he must go to secondary school.

Mukangai joined Ingotse High School in Kakamega, he joined three weeks to closing of the first term. He learned for 4 years and passed his exams well.

After that he moved to Nairobi to hustle, and he started working as a Mjengo man, and he was a toilet cleaner. He used to earn Ksh.700 per week. It was a very tough experience but he used to struggle hoping that one day he will be very successful.

After a while he got a letter to join Multimedia university. This is after working at Limuru flowers company for a while. He used to earn Ksh.5000 monthly.

He joined multimedia university, which was a college then, he secured an internship job at KBC while still a student. While still working at KBC, Jalang’o approached him, took him to Radio Africa, he worked for a while then left . He was just a volunteer.

Then his dream come through after meeting Ali Hassan Kauleni. Ali Hassan helped him to get a job at Radio Maisha as a sports journalist. He worked as an intern for about one year. He then worked as a correspondent for 2 years, before being employed permanently.

He started gaining fame, brand deals started streaming and this changed his life completely. Money started to stream in he is now making millions of money in the sport industry.
