Kutoka Mlinzi Hadi Tajiri: From Watchman to Millionaire
My name is Peter, and ten years ago I was just a night watchman in Nairobi.
Every evening I would report to work wearing my faded uniform and carry a small torch as I guarded a warehouse through the long cold nights. The pay was barely enough to survive.
Some nights I would sit quietly outside the gate watching expensive cars pass by and wonder if my life would ever change.
Deep inside I had big dreams, but reality felt too heavy.
One day while talking to an older colleague, he advised me to seek guidance from a doctor who helped people find direction in life and overcome difficult situations.
At first I laughed at the idea. But curiosity pushed me to visit.
After that visit, something changed in my mindset. I began saving the little money I earned instead of spending it on unnecessary things. I started learning small business ideas and selling simple items during the day before reporting for my night shift.
My first business was selling phone accessories on a small wooden table outside a bus stage.
Slowly the business grew.
Within a few years I opened a small electronics shop. Then another one.
Today I own several shops and employ many people.
Sometimes when I drive past the warehouse where I once worked as a guard, I remember those long nights and smile.
Because my life proves that even the smallest beginning can lead to unimaginable success.
