    Junior Starlets Secure Historic Win Against Mexico at FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup

    Kenya took the lead early in the first half, with Valerie Nekesa opening the scoreline in the 15th minute following a well-executed play started by Joan Ogola. Their momentum continued, with Lornah Faith doubling the lead in the 36th minute, brilliantly assisted once again by Nekesa, to end the half with a 2-0 advantage.

    The second half saw Mexico intensify their efforts to turn the game around. Although they managed a late goal in the 90th minute via a penalty kick by Alexa Soto, the Junior Starlets’ defense held firm, ensuring they emerged victorious with a final score of 2-1.

    This historic win not only marks Kenya’s first victory at the World Cup level but also secured a third-place finish in Group C for the Junior Starlets. Lornah Faith’s outstanding play earned her the Player of the Match award, further highlighting the team’s potential as they conclude their World Cup journey and prepare to return home with heads held high.
