Rosana was born and grew up in Meru, where she then tied the knot. At first, her marriage appeared hopeful, but gradually, her husband showed a harmful nature. He started being unfaithful to her, and in moments of conflict, he would threaten her life.
On a pivotal day, Rosana found her husband in bed with a different woman. Crushed and sorrowful, she faced him, but he dropped to his knees and implored for forgiveness, urging her to keep the event confidential. As a forgiving individual, Rosana opted to pray with him and accepted his apology, all while attending to their young child. Despite her forgiveness, he still felt distrustful and exited the house with a machete and sharpening tool, asserting he was heading out to find food, which was urgently required.
That evening, as Rosana was sleeping, her husband quietly returned home. He came to her bedside with the gleaming machete, announcing that today was the day he would end her life—and his own. He explained his reasoning by stating he needed to silence her to prevent her from revealing the truth about his unfaithfulness.
Rosana, shocked, tried to soothe him, encouraging him to join her in prayer to get through this moment. Nonetheless, he turned down her request and violently assaulted her, cutting her hand and making several fingers drop to the floor. In a state of panic, Rosana shouted for assistance. He persisted in the attack, hitting her multiple times on her face and head, inflicting serious harm to one of her eyes, before escaping the location.
Neighbors hurried to assist Rosana and discovered her sprawled in a pool of blood, initially thinking she was lifeless. She was transported to the Meru Mortuary, where, alongside six other bodies in the vehicle, she was listed among the deceased. After being laid out for hours, a morgue attendant saw signs of life in her. Rosana was promptly taken to the emergency room, and care commenced. Slowly, she regained her stability, yet her recovery was challenging and went at a sluggish pace.
Months later, although she grew physically stronger, the harm to her eye resulted in lasting injuries. Rosana now values her renewed opportunity at life and feels thankful to God for granting her a second child.
In a tragic turn of events, her husband, convinced that Rosana had passed away, decided to take his own life, bringing his narrative to a close.
