” I Married and Divorced 20 Times, Got Infected HIV” Emotional Story Of Kibera Woman.
Veronicah is perhaps one of the unluckiest women, especially in relationship and marriage. She was born in 1953 and ever since then life has never been easy, she has never seen light at the end of the tunnel as many motivational speakers usually say. Her life has been full of problems that are caused by problems which are stimulated by other problems.
Speaking during an interview, Veronica said she fast got married at the age of 17 through an arranged marriage. The marriage lasted for only 2 years and they parted ways. She went to her auntie’s side to visit her, while there she got married two times in a span of 3 years but all the marriages failed.
She returned and went to visit her uncle where she got married again, but it also ended in premium tears. Veronicah said her naturally beauty attracted many men , hence she couldn’t remain single all men wanted to be with her. In all the marriages that time she was unable to conceive, this continued upto the 18th marriage.
She was unable to conceive, and this was also among the reasons why she used to get dumped by men. By goodluck in 1996 she conceived and gave birth to baby girl, however her father dumped her.
She got the 19th husband who understood her very well, and the man really wanted a baby, but she was unable to conceive. The same cycle repeated itself and she was dumped. The 20th husband who also had promised her heaven dumped her again.
By this time she was staying in Nairobi , and life became more tough when her daughter gave birth while in secondary school. She disappeared and left her with a 3 months old son. She had to struggle to feed him, and also herself because she had already got HIV.
Life has been tough upto date, she lives in a mabati house in the slums of Kibera. She struggles to get food and pay school fees for her 12 years grandson. Veronicah is indeed going through alot and needs support from well wishers.
