A very shocking incident happened in Kakamega County, Khwisero sub county in one of the villages. The incident was about Joseph Alucheri a middle aged man, who just returned home two days after his burial.

According to the family, they thought that Joseph is dead, this is after the elders and some of the family members, verified, a dead body of another person to be him.
The body was found thrown in River Yala, and after observing it for a while the family concluded that it was their loved one Joseph Alucheri.

It is a very humble background, so they decided not to spend huge amount of money on post mortem, hence they went on and started planning his burial. After a while they managed to bury the body of the person and they started coping up with life knowing that Joseph is gone.

2 days after his burial, Joseph Alucheri made a come back to the village, this is after he heard news of his death while in Nairobi. He came to make things clears that he was not dead and that they had buried a wrong person.

It was a bizarre moment, but after a while the family and villagers all agreed that it was true Joseph was still alive, and that they had buried a wrong person.
According to their traditions, Joseph can’t be allowed to stay at his home. The dead body of the person they buried must be removed ,taken back to mortuary, then cleansing is supposed to be done, to chase away the spirit of death.
The family has urged the government to help them in removing the dead body and taking it back to the morgue.
