Confirmed: All Primary & Secondary Schools Set To Reopen For Third Term On These Dates Next Week

The Ministry of Education has released the official Term Three schedule for the 2026 school year, providing learners, teachers and parents with clear dates for the final academic term and national assessments.

According to the calendar, Term Three for pre-primary, primary, junior, senior and secondary schools will commence on Monday, August 24, 2026. The term will run for nine weeks before officially ending on October 23.

The final term is expected to be particularly important for candidates preparing for national examinations, as schools complete the remaining syllabus and organise revision programmes.

National assessments will begin shortly after schools close for the term. The Kenya Primary School Education Assessment (KPSEA) and Kenya Intermediate Level Education Assessment (KILEA) are scheduled to commence on October 26, 2026.

The Kenya Junior School Education Assessment (KJSEA) and Kenya Pre-Vocational Level Education Assessment (KPLEA) are also expected to begin on the same date.

Form Four candidates will sit for the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations beginning November 2. The examinations are scheduled to run for three weeks and conclude on November 20, 2026.

The confirmed timetable gives schools an opportunity to organise revision sessions, complete internal examinations and ensure candidates are adequately prepared before the national tests begin.

Teachers and school administrators have been encouraged to use the remaining weeks effectively by completing the syllabus and providing additional academic support to learners preparing for assessments.

Parents are also expected to play a role by creating conducive environments at home and encouraging candidates to remain focused during the final stage of the school year.

The announcement comes as schools prepare to reopen for the final term, which will culminate in several national assessments.

Education stakeholders will now be required to align their academic programmes with the official calendar to ensure learning and examinations proceed smoothly.
