They Poisoned Him & Took Everything: The Rise, Fall And Sudden Death Of Famous Actor Mr Ibu

The only mistake John Okafor well known as Mr Ibu did was being a generous person, trusting his family and marry a wrong wife, who later poisoned him. The truth is out, and here is how relatives and family members led to the death of one of the top actors in Africa.

    Background

John Ikechukwu Okafor was born in Nigeria sometimes back in October 17th 1961, hometown, Eziokwe Amuri, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State. He was from a very poor family, to an extend that he had to dropout of school and start selling firewoods.

In 1997 is when he somehow started seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. He landed into acting roles and started getting some money. This period he was blessed with a baby boy. Mr Ibu continued working hard because the responsibilities had increased.

However one day when he was at the set shooting, he received very heartbreaking news, and it was about his son, they said that the young boy is no more. The death was so mysterious, that no one could tell what was the cause of his death. That is when Mr Ibu started to suspect that something was happening in his family, and someone was after them.

    The rise

In 2004, Mr Ibu became a very big deal featured in many movies with (PoPo)Osita Iheme. He started making more money. He was a generous person and always busy, to an extend that he didn’t attend well the burial of his father, because he was on the set shooting so he was just in a rushy mood.

During the time he was accumulating wealth, Mr Ibu built a mansion at his home. Because he was busy he trusted one of his relatives to sign papers for him. He knew that he was from his blood sohe couldn’t betray him. Ibu was busy shooting films hence he just knew the time he will get free, he will just go and change details later.

The mansion was done and Ibu was the one paying maintainance fee. However years later the person decided to stab Ibu on the back, came with a lawyer to claim the ownership of the mansion. Ibu didn’t have any evidence that the house belongs to him. He just had to let it go. He was now homeless, and he just decided to move away from home because he couldn’t trust his relatives anymore.

He lived in different places, before finally accumulating money to build another house away from home. Now the other mistake Mr Ibu did was marrying a very wrong wife. The wife was materialistic and he was doing everything possible to end the life of Mr Ibu so that she can remain with his properties and wealth.

    The fall

In an interview that he did in 2020, Mr Ibu revealed to the public, that his wife had poisoned him for two times, but he was lucky enough to vomit the poison. He even said that he doesn’t know why this was happening in his family, because his father was poisoned to death, his brother and his uncle.

Now they are targeting him, they have already done it twice. The poison really affected him, his belly grew big, and from there he started having health complications. Things started going left, because he couldn’t trust his wife anymore, Ibu left everything he owns moved out of his own home to Lagos.

    Being Broke and Sick

In Lagos he was living in a hotel, he was very broke and sick. Now here is where a lady by the name Jasmine came into the picture. She was like Mr Ibu’s daughter. Jasmine dad was a soldier and friend to Ibu, when he died, because Ibu was generous, he decided to take care of Jasmine paid fees and helped her get education.

Jasmine was abroad continuing with her studies. Then one day she was shocked to see a message from Ibu begging her for 4 dollars to buy food. She even thought it was a scam, she had to confirm and found out it was real that Ibu was sick and everything wasn’t okay.

Ibu continued to borrow money from Jasmine who wasn’t employed, just a student. Jasmine helped him, and even called his wife, to ask if everything at home was okay. The wife lied to her that Ibu had abandoned them, she complained that they were left with nothing at home.

Jasmine had to fly back to Nigeria to try and salvage the situation. The first move was to take Ibu to the hospital and try make sure he gets better medication. However before being taken to hospital several strange things were happening.

    Extreme illness and Amputation

The poison had really affected Mr Ibu’s leg, and he deserved to be taken to the hospital. But the wife who was behind the poisoning, together with other brokers decided to take him to a traditional healer. This worsened the situation. The pain exceeded and the leg was decaying.

Jasmine had told them Ibu should be taken to hospital abroad, and they even did a special show to raise money, but the money vanished in the hands of brokers. By the time Ibu was taken to hospital things were worse and he had to be amputed his leg.

This is when Jasmin and Ibu’s son went on Tiktok live, together with Mr Ibu asking for financial support. Netizens came through, actors and celebrities from different parts of the world sent contributions to support Mr Ibu. They raised about $60,000.

The Fight for contributions and Mr Ibu’s death

After realising that there is money, Mr Ibu’s wife now wanted to be in control of the bank accounts and tiktok accounts. She even wanted the contribution money for the surgery and treatment of Ibu, some to be used to buy her iPhone 15 and some luxurious things.

But Ibu was clear that all the accounts were to be under his son’s name. There was a battle between Jasmine and the wife, the wife was even accusing Jasmine for refusing to release contributions money for treatment. Jasmine was even arrested, what saved her was the son of Mr Ibu who showed that he was the one with the accounts.

On the day of surgery, it was delayed by 4 days, remember Ibu was in pain that time. The main reason it was delayed, the wife changed next of Kin name from Jasmin to Ibu’s other son who was in South Africa, they had to wait for four days for him to arrive. Surgery later happened, he was amputed.

However things never got better, Ibu was in the room of people who didn’t trust each other, and remember the wife who poisoned him was also still in the picture. With time he stopped speaking, health condition got worse, and in March 2nd 2024, Mr John Okafor took his last breath, he died in pain. That was the end of Mr Ibu, and how his relatives and family members led to his death.
