Court Finally Makes a Landmark Rulling on Dr Victoria Mutiso’s Murder Case
The High Court has granted two suspects linked to the murder investigation of Dr Victoria Mutiso a cash bond of Ksh1 million each.

The suspects, a lawyer and her co-accused, were arrested over allegations involving a Range Rover Sport valued at about Ksh15 million. Investigators believe the vehicle was stolen from a disputed 21-acre piece of land in Mlolongo.
The land has become an important part of investigations into the circumstances surrounding Dr Mutiso’s death.
Detectives are also investigating the relationship between the lawyer, her co-accused and the lawyer’s mother, who is also being held as a suspect in the wider case.
The lawyer’s mother remains in custody alongside her son after the court issued a 21-day detention order. Prosecutors had requested additional time to keep the two in custody as investigations continued.
However, the court was informed that investigations involving the mother and son had already been completed. The case file had subsequently been forwarded to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions for review and further directions.
The prosecution requested seven additional days, arguing that the period would allow prosecutors to study the file and decide whether the two suspects should be formally charged.
The latest court decision comes as detectives continue pursuing leads in the murder of Dr Mutiso, a clinical psychologist and mental health researcher.
Dr Mutiso was shot dead on July 29 during her morning journey in Nairobi’s Upper Hill area.
According to investigators, the vehicle she was travelling in was blocked by a black Toyota Prado near the junction of Mbagathi Link Road and Mawenzi Road.
Gunmen riding a motorcycle reportedly fired three shots into the rear passenger side of the vehicle, where Dr Mutiso was seated.
She was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Seven suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the murder, while detectives continue investigating the case and pursuing other possible suspects.
The latest bail decision allows the two suspects to remain out of custody as the wider investigation into Dr Mutiso’s murder continues.
