Government Bans Schools Morning & Evening Preps Shares Fresh Learning Guidelines Effective Immediately

The Ministry of Education has cracked down on early morning and late evening study sessions across all basic learning institutions.

Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has reaffirmed that official class hours strictly run from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with no public or private school permitted to compel learners to report before 7:15 am.

The government has introduced these directives to curb widespread student exhaustion and protect children traveling during dangerous early morning hours.

Education officials have noted that extreme schedules have contributed heavily to learner fatigue, mental stress, and safety vulnerabilities.

Under the new operational policy, all classroom instruction must fit firmly within the prescribed 8:00 am to 3:30 pm window, while co-curricular activities and free study must end by 4:45 pm.

School administration teams have received strict warnings against scheduling mandatory morning preps before sunrise or retaining day scholars past official hours.

The ministry has tasked regional quality assurance officers with conducting spontaneous inspections to enforce compliance.

Headteachers and principals who will defy these guidelines have been put on notice, with the government threatening severe administrative disciplinary action for non-compliance.

Parents across the country have welcomed the enforcement, noting that young pupils have frequently been forced onto dark roads as early as 4:30 am to meet unrealistic academic demands.

The ministry has emphasized that humanizing the learning process has remained vital for achieving sustainable academic results without compromising child safety.

School boards will have to immediately initiate efforts adjustments to school daily timetables to align with the ministry’s standardized operational hours.

By enforcing a balanced daily calendar, the government has aimed to create a safer, healthier educational environment for learners nationwide.
