I am a Joseph, a clearing and forwarding agent in Mombasa. I serve clients from all over East Africa. My firm is doing quite well and has had a good reputation for now six years.
However, it was last year when something bad occurred to me. I had just cleared someone’s cargo and since I also do logistics, I had to transport the sh 21 million container to the client in Uganda. On the way, my driver and turn boy were kidnapped and robbed everything. My client could not believe this story. He stood his ground and asked me to compensate him. This was my end since my level of my business could not raise that much. It was not possible for me to pay for his container. This was my breaking point in business. Any attempt to compensate my client would have seen me lose everything I had acquired in six years and even close down.
