“After 4 Years of a Land Struggle, We Finally Got Justice” This is What Helped Us
For four long years, my family and I lived in a constant state of tension and fear. Our land in Kisii, which had been in the family for generations, became the center of a bitter dispute after my stepmother contested ownership.
She claimed rights over the property, insisting that my siblings and I had no claim, even though our parents had clearly left instructions in our favor.
At first, we tried to resolve the matter peacefully. We held meetings, exchanged letters, and even involved local elders.
But every attempt to reconcile ended in threats, insults, and legal complications. Each court hearing seemed to drag for months, sometimes years, with delays and lost files that only increased our frustration. It felt like the land itself was slipping through our fingers, despite all the evidence we had.
As the tension grew, I noticed that the house felt heavy. My younger siblings were stressed, my parents exhausted, and the atmosphere became toxic. Sleep became rare; even meals were eaten in silence, everyone preoccupied with the looming battle. I began to feel hopeless. Perhaps this land was never meant to be ours.
