The courtroom was silent.
Jane sat on one side, arms folded tightly across her chest. On the other side sat her husband, Mark, staring at the floor. After nine years of marriage and two children, their union had reached what seemed like its final chapter.
The divorce papers were ready.
Family members filled the back benches. Some shook their heads. Others whispered that it had been a long time coming. The main issue was not money. It was betrayal.
