How I survived a failed marriage and found healing
Marriage was supposed to be my forever safe place, but mine became a slow storm that destroyed me day by day. I was married young in Nyeri, full of hope, believing love was enough to hold two people together. But as years passed, my home became heavy with silence, arguments, and disappointment. My husband changed into someone I could no longer recognize. Every effort I made to save us seemed useless. Eventually, he walked away without warning, leaving me with nothing but heartbreak and shame.
For months, I could not eat well, sleep well, or even laugh. People told me to move on, but they didn’t understand the kind of pain that settles inside your chest like a stone.
I tried counselling, church prayers, and even medication, but nothing helped the emptiness. That’s when an elderly relative suggested I visit a traditional doctor, not for magic, but for emotional and spiritual grounding.
I was welcomed warmly, not judged. I was guided through days of silence, herbal calming tea, and deep conversations that forced me to release the anger I carried. Slowly, I began to feel like myself again.
The healing wasn’t instant, but it was real. I learned that sometimes heartbreak is not the end of life, but the beginning of rebuilding yourself.
Today, I smile again. I live again. And I finally believe love will return, but first, I had to heal.
