Youth Leader Ken Babu: Duale Must Resign, This Is Not Just Ksh. 11 Billion Lost, These Are Lives Lost

In a climate where national integrity hangs in the balance, youth leader Ken Babu has issued a rallying cry to demand accountability from political leaders, specifically targeting Health  Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale. His message is clear and urgent: Duale must resign over the escalating corruption and financial mismanagement at the Social Health Insurance (SHA). But Babu emphasizes that this issue transcends mere figures; it is about human lives and the very fabric of Kenya’s survival.

    The Reality Beyond the Figures

Ken Babu passionately asserts, “This is not just Ksh. 11 billion lost. Those are lives lost.” For many Kenyans, the headline of billions stolen might seem abstract or distant, but Babu reminds us that behind every shilling stolen, there are real people suffering, families going hungry, children unable to access education, and communities deprived of basic services.

He warns that the nation’s problems are systemic. When corruption becomes policy, and theft is defended as a norm, the country’s foundation begins to crack. It’s not just about missing money; it’s about the erosion of trust, the destruction of livelihoods, and the moral decay that threatens to consume Kenya.

    The Cost of Silence

Babu issues a stark warning to the current generation: if we do not rise now, if we do not ask the hard questions, demand names, prosecutions, and restitution, then history will remember us as complicit in the theft of our future. Silence, he asserts, is complicity. The complacency of turning a blind eye to corruption fuels its growth and prolongs the pain inflicted on ordinary Kenyans.

He calls on citizens, civil society, and the media to hold leaders accountable. “If we do not demand transparency and justice,”Babu says, “we are allowing the theft of our nation to continue, and in doing so, we are sacrificing lives for the sake of political convenience.”

    Why Duale Must Resign

At the heart of this call is Health CS, Aden Duale, a figure who has been associated with various political and financial controversies. Babu argues that Duale’s continued presence at the helm of SHA undermines the integrity of the institution and signals a dangerous tolerance for corruption at the highest levels of government.

Duale’s resignation, Babu insists, is not just about cleaning house; it is about restoring faith in leadership and ensuring that those entrusted with public funds are held to the highest standards of accountability. The rising corruption allegations and financial mismanagement at SHA, if left unaddressed, threaten to deepen the wounds inflicted on Kenyan society.

    A Call to Action

Ken Babu’s message is a call to action for all Kenyans: demand accountability, demand justice, and refuse to accept corruption as normal. It is a reminder that the fight against corruption is a collective effort, one that requires courage, resilience, and unwavering commitment to the truth.

If we remain silent, we surrender our future. If we do not hold our leaders accountable today, the consequences will be felt for generations to come.

Ken Babu’s words serve as a wake up call. Kenya’s challenges are not insurmountable, but they require honesty, transparency, and decisive action. Duale’s resignation is a step towards reclaiming the nation’s dignity. More importantly, it’s a stand for the lives shattered and futures compromised by greed and impunity.

As Kenyans, the time to act is now. We must ask the hard questions, demand accountability, and ensure that our leaders serve the people not their pockets. The future of Kenya depends on it.
