Why the Renowned Tanzanian Star Binti Kiziwi Was Sentenced to 7Years in Prison
Binti Kiziwi, whose real name is Sandra Khan, rose to fame after her appearance in Z Anto’s popular track “Binti Kiziwi.” Her unique beauty drew the attention of many East Africans, but then she seemingly vanished from the spotlight for years.
Z Anto released the romantic song in 2007, creating a sensation across East Africa. While the heartfelt lyrics contributed to the song’s success, it was Sandra Khan’s presence that made it memorable. However, more than ten years have passed and the once-popular Binti Kiziwi has faded from public view.
This article examines Sandra Khan’s life in the years following her rise to fame. After “Binti Kiziwi” became a widely recognized anthem, Sandra developed a romantic relationship with Z Anto, who was enjoying a thriving career at the time. Unfortunately, their romance ended three years later, prompting Sandra to seek new opportunities elsewhere. She ultimately became involved in drug trafficking and was arrested at the Hong Kong airport in 2013.
As a result, Sandra Khan received a five-year prison sentence in China. During her incarceration, she isolated herself from friends and family, feeling ashamed and unwilling to expose them to her plight. She completed her sentence in 2019 and returned to her home country of Tanzania. According to K24 Digital, Sandra Khan currently resides in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and has not participated in any collaborations since her work with Z Anto.
