Harambee Stars Set to Host AFCON Qualifier Against Namibia in South Africa

    • Kenya’s Harambee Stars will play their final 2025 AFCON qualifier against Namibia on November 19 in Polokwane, South Africa.
    • The game will be held at Peter Mokaba Stadium, a shift from the initially planned venue in Uganda.
    • Football Kenya Federation (FKF) CEO Patrick Korir says the change simplifies travel logistics as Kenya will play Zimbabwe in the same venue four days earlier.
    • Fans can attend the game, unlike Kenya’s previous “home” match in Uganda.
    • Kenya, currently third in Group J, must win both remaining matches to have a chance at qualifying.

Kenya’s men’s national football team, the Harambee Stars, will play their last 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying match against Namibia on November 19 in South Africa. The match was initially set for Uganda but has now been moved to Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.

The change in venue, confirmed by FKF CEO Patrick Korir, is aimed at easing team logistics. Since Kenya is already scheduled to play against Zimbabwe at the same stadium on November 15, remaining in South Africa avoids the need for additional travel to Uganda.

Korir expressed confidence in the new venue, emphasizing that it offers no advantage to Namibia and that fans can attend, unlike Kenya’s last match against Cameroon in Uganda, which was held behind closed doors. The Peter Mokaba Stadium is a well-known venue that hosted several games during the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Currently third in Group J, Kenya needs two wins in its final matches while hoping for Zimbabwe to lose both of its games. This scenario would secure a spot in the AFCON tournament in Morocco next year.

The change to Peter Mokaba Stadium presents a unique opportunity for Harambee Stars fans in South Africa to support their team. With qualification hopes still alive, the Stars will aim for victories in both of their remaining matches to keep their AFCON dreams alive.
