Death is unpredictable, and it is the final sentence for everyone. The football world has experienced some shocking deaths resulting from the players suddenly collapsing on the field. Here are five famous footballers who met their death while on the field.

1, Cheick Tiote

Cheick Tiote previously played for Newcastle United

Cheick was one of the best players in the English Premier League. He was from the Ivory Coast and one of the key players for his country. Tiote was a talisman at Newcastle United and was one of the famous stars to sign for the Chinese league. In 2017 Tiote met his death. He simply fainted during a training session on a Monday morning and was taken to the hospital, where he died.

2. Marc  Vivian Foe

He was one of the greatest players in the history of Cameroon, and he also played for Manchester City. Marc died in June 2003, When his team was playing an international tournament against Colombia in France. He collapsed at the 72nd  minute, and when he was taken to the stadium medical center, he died shortly.

3. Antonio Puerta

He is still remembered as one of the best wing-backs in football; Antonio played for Sevilla and Spain. He met his premature death at 22 years after collapsing against Getafe on a Saturday. He collapsed in the 35th minute, and he was taken to hospital, though he died three days later from multiple organ failure that resulted from cardiac arrest.

  1. Phil O’Donnell

He had a very fantastic football career, and he died at the age of 35 due to heart failure. He was the captain of Motherwell, and he collapsed and died on the spot during their match against Dundee United in December 2007. He also played for Celtic, Sheffield Wednesday, and the Scotland national team.

  1. Cristiano Jr.

This was one of the most tragic deaths in the world of football. He died in October 2004, when his team, Goan Club  Dempo, was playing against Mohun Bagan. He collided with the goalkeeper while scoring his second goal after chasing the ball inside the box. He died on the spot, there were no doctors on the pitch, and Cristiano lost his life.
